removal of 4 speed shifter

How do you remove a 4sp shifter that in a slip in?

Slip some feeler gauges down the sides of the shifter to release the locking tabs and pull the shifter out.

You use a .010" feeler gauge and push it down on the driver's side between the shifter handle and spring clip. You only need one feeler gauge. There in no locking tab on the passenger side.

Make sure you have the shift box secured in a vise or something. The handle will still be hard to remove once the tabs are depressed...

Im going to post pic of the shifter I think it bent incorrectly because I'm hitting the dash in first gear.

The quickest and maybe the cheapest way to get one is to buy a reproduction one from Brewers and then you could always sell yours to a B-body owner.
