im in the process of tearing down the front suspension and wondering how do i remove the strut bars? also with the torsion bars do i have to take the nuts off on the ends and then use that torsion bar tool? (how does that tool work?)

In order to remove the strut bars, you will have to remove them along with lower control arm. Hence the order is as such:
First you release the load from the torsion bar by unscrewing the adjusting bolt on the LCA.
Then remove the lock ring which holds the TB. Now with that special tool you have you should be able to slide the TB through the rear anchor.
If you cannot slide it (as it happened with mine) then unscrew the bolts that hold the strut bar and the LCA attached to the K frame. Slide the LCA towards the rear and then try to remove the TB.
Of course first you must remove the UCA and the suspension should be in full rebound.
