How important is it to replace the plastic in between the door panels and the interior door bodies. Where do you find the plastic or do you just use what ever you can find?

You can use standard polyethylene plastic sheeting, BUT if you can get a piece of what they call "greenhouse plastic", it's better.....doesn't wear out or crack. Black duct tape can fairly duplicate the tape used at the factory on the bottom if you're a purist and care about such stuff).

The plastic is a moisture barrier (protects your panels) and helps to cut down a smidgen on noise....I always replace it unless it's in nice condition......Just makes for a nice job.

I used some black plastic sheeting that's normally used under a hardwood floor as a moisture barrier. It was pretty heavy stuff, like a thick black trashbag. I also used some butyl rope seal to hold it on instead of just going with tape, not sure why I didn't think of tape, lol.
