Replaced broken 8.75 489, going from U-bolts to Straps

No help , but really nice car ! AMX is a great car , one of the non Dodge Chrysler cars I'd buy . Friend has one pulling the front wheels high 10's .

Thanks for the nice words guys. I was born in Kenosha. Most of my family worked @ AMC. My brother and I always said if it wasn't an AMC we'd go Mopar.

I was wondering how tight a fit are the U-joints into the yoke. I picked up a 1310/7260 u-joint. The caps on the 1310 side are 1.063 and the caps on the 7260 side is 1.078 which should be the right size for the pinion yoke. The 1.078 is tight but I can probably tap it into the yoke and then put the straps on. Should I have to tap them in?

Got it in! Everything seems to be working. Took it for a quick drive and didn't feel any vibrations, seemed good. I want to say thanks to all you guys. Really appreciate all the help you've given me.
