Replacing Slant Six

-
As the picture shows, I am an old 'coot' and youth is long gone, (not to mention a much smaller body) and I can still get a motor swapped in good time. I get the car on jackstands, undo everything on the bottom side, tranny crossmember, linkage, driveshaft, exhaust, speedo cable, get topside and pull the radiator, alternator, power stering pump, fan, break the motor mounts loose, take off the intake/exhaust manifoldss (you dont have to do this step) hook chains and end plates by the number 1 and 6 end bolts and lift the motor and trans out together. Even at my age and with my fat butt I can swap a motor/trans in 6 hours or less. Everyone has their way but in the end its not too hard. GO FOR IT!!

Also, when you unbolt the converter push it back a little into the bellhousing. And when you pull the engine have a jack under the front of the trans to keep it up. If it tilts downwards too much the torque converter can slide out and make a mess dumping tranny fluid all over.
