Chuck Favour, Hagerty Insurance vice president of claims, said his company has insured about 125 of the cars at Russo and Steele.

After viewing the auction site from the Loop 101, he estimated that as many as half the 600 cars on the lot were damaged with dents and scratches from tent poles and debris.

Favour expected the claims would average about $5,000 per car.

That works out to claims approaching $1.5 million.

I believe it was Russo and Steele Auction that had the tent damage.

There are 2 or 3 auctions going on at the same time.

I don't know what you were watching (or smoking) but it's RUSSO and STEELE that got damaged.

Whoa, the next article down says the Beach Boys Cuda is possibly a stolen car from the 70s.

wow the '70 cuda drop top 426 had some bad damage to the windshield area and both birds were hurt a bit, truly what a shame.

Hate to see anything like this happen. Godspeed to the check writers at the insurance companies ... and a very soft heart in those rare parts hoarders who can help restore these beauties to their former glory.

had to stop about 20 pictures in.

hurts to look at.

I have a funny feeling these types of auctions will be required by the insurance companies to be held INDOORS from now on in order to be covered... (no pun...)

Sad to see so much beautiful classic machinery damaged, No matter what make, classic cars are getting harder and harder to get and these cars which were damaged will make some people very leery about putting a classic car up for auction in tents like these vehicles were in. Hopefully most of these owners will be able to get these vehicles repaired. Heartbreaking...

While watching some of the Barrett Jackson auction today they said some of the satellite auctions that pop up around them had some pretty bad damage. No damage to any cars at the Jackson auction, better prepared or should I say more money to be better prepared.

Wow. thats a shame, I would be soooooooooooooo pissed, that Torino GT is probably totaled.
