On August 19, 2025 I came across a facebook marketplace ad selling a 1970 Dodge Dart GT. I only got 3 photos to look at from the listing that had been up for 8 minutes. Messaged the seller and found out it was his dad's old car that he had to finally sell after being parked since presumably 2011 when it was last registered and insured.

The seller didn't remember anything about what engine, trans or diff it had all he knew is it was red and sitting in his mom's garage and used to be his dad's racecar.

I beg the guy not to sell it on me, I rented a uhaul trailer on my lunch break and set for the highway to travel 8 hours round trip after my 8-hour workday. I arrive and to my surprise the car is a V8, 4 Speed, & 8.75 Diff. Hooked up a battery pack to the battery cables and turned it over. I gave the cash and headed back arriving at home around 1:30am.

The next day I left the car alone just looking it over seeing what was missing & got everything I would require to finally hear it run. Come Thursday which is yesterday from this post I got it running off a fuel can and it runs great! Oil pressure is solid and also realized it has electronic ignition conversion as pointed out by another member in the introduction post. I patched the fuel tank and am going to try get it home from my work under its own power which is a 8Km drive and ill start by taking the seats out to clean, weld previously drilled holes, paint and lay a fresh carpet inside. But all said and done this car (Ill list what I will be looking for at the end).

I'm located in Regina Saskatchewan Canada. Prefer to find stuff in Canada because I hate dealing with tarrifs and all the other cross border crap.

That thing is great! I have always regretted selling my 70 Dart 20 years ago.... Id love to find one like that one day!

This one may come up for sale. As much as I love these old classic cars, I am hoping to get it fixed up a fair bit and sell it to help put money down on a home. Or maybe just work another job and keep this one around because im sure liking it more and more haha!
