I am going to adjust the valves on my 225/6 and could use some advice. Do you think I should retourqe the head first? If so how many lbs? Should I do this when the engine is hot or cold?

Re-torque when still hot. I had to do this with a head gasket once, after 1000 mi as I recall. Many today are "perma-torque" (trademark), but still wouldn't hurt (if a bolt doesn't snap) and easy to do on a slant. My V-8's require removing the exhaust manifold to get at all the bolts. I can't imagine that torquing will affect the valve lash at all.

I would tyhink if you have not done any head work in the last 1000 miles, you would not need to re-torque the head at all. Just adjust the valves and be done.
