I figured why not try a Hydraulic Roller camshaft comp cams makes a XE hydraulic roller that looks good for the combo I had in mind

HYDRAULIC ROLLER-3.91+ gears, Hyd. Hyd. 2500 to 6200 20-813-9 X28610
286 294 236 242 .544 .541 110°
2800+ stall, 9.5:1 compression, needs headers
rough idle, street strip.

My compression will probably be higher than 9.5 however.

What do you guys think about this cam, I had already planned on a 2800 rpm stall and 3.91 gears so it looks like this cam fits my needs as planned

Any idea what kind of times this cam could potentially run in a Street trim 1970 Swinger 340

I don't know about times, but the compresion ratio listed is a min. ratio to run. Higher is fine, lower should be avoided.

I'd call up comp and tell them what you are planning. My bet is they'll say its too big a cam for your combo. Remember that rollers have a much steeper opening rate than flat tappets, you cant compare a roller to flat tappet, they aren't the same animals. My guess would be to go 2 steps smaller, something with around 220 duration.
