Reverse Indicator Light (under dash)

I`m restoring a 73 340 Duster 4spd and was wondering if the reverse indicator light was used (or an option) in 73 or just earlier years ? Figured someone here would know. Thanks

I pulled one from an original 833OD 76 dart sport so I'd say they used them till then.

factory 4-speed cars had it, factory 3 speed manual did not

Thanks, after 42 years of people drilling holes in the dash do you know where it was located under the dash? I`m guessing just left of the ashtray.

It was not under the dash on my 73 Duster. There is a 3/4 inch hole cut into the OEM dash. We changed dashes, because the PO had cut the OE dash for a radio, and had to make a new hole in the replacement dash. The wiring for the lamp goes through the firewall with a grommet. I am trying to find some pictures of the correct spot for this.

i dont know about the 73's but on the 70 model year the wiring went through the bulkhead connector .

I added one to my 69 Dart and tied in the light to the harness under the left kick panel going to the rear lights. Not correct but it works.
