This is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m goung to recreate my car in 1:25 scale. It involves a bunch of work and I’m sure I’ll be asking for suggestions. Here’s my car I’m going to recreate in 1:25. As you can see this is no small task. Riddler
Here’s where I’ve started. I purchased a 73 Resin cast model and also a 1971 AMT Duster kit. I’ve also purchased a 6.1 Hemi in resin and purchased a viper engine/trans combo. Riddler
Next I needed to remove the NAG1 trans molded into the 6.1 Hemi. I also needed to clean up the resin as it’s got a bunch of molding flash. The last photo is a model I worked in years ago but never finished. It’s a 440 dressed in detail. Riddler
I'm on the hunt for wheels to match mine (as close as possible) and a snorkel hood or scoop. Then I'll be needing help deciding on other things. Any suggestions to keep me going? Riddler
I don't have any suggestions to keep you going, only encouragement. I have wanted to do this for years, less to duplicate a car I am still working on and more to created a visual to keep me working on it and remind me of the (hoped) finished product. Plus, it would give me something to do during the winter when I can't work on it as I don't have a garage. Love it. Keep it up!
Wow! What a cool idea. Way cheaper this time around huh! That Hemi is more cost effective in resin form LOL! Keep up the post. Looks good. Joe
You don't even know. The resin version was a whopping $10 shipped. I'll get more done when I decide what primer and paints I'm going to use. I hate Testor's as they are so thick. Riddler
Competition Resin's for the 73-76 Body. It needs a lot of work but it's really the only place to find an actual 73-76 Duster. The grill is wrong for mine but I'm hoping to find one or make one. The engine was found on ebay. Riddler
Tiday I took the very limited time I had and filled the resin holes with green stuff two part modeling clay. Should be able to mount and prime soon! Riddler
Nice. I have a 90% complete model of my '86 CS Daytona that I started when I still had the car about '93. I had to do a LOT of mods to convert it to a T top. About the only thing left to do is fabricate the actual T bar. Last month I bought a set of smoked T top sections from ebay. Most progress in 25 years!
No thanks I really like my wheels and for what I paid for them to be made, I'll keep them. I might have my neighbor make some on his cnc machines for my 1:25. @RustyRatRod thank you. I can't wait to make it to more shows. I've been out driving it to work out the bugs. Riddler
Hey Riddler Might i suggest you use Tamiya primers. That's what I use and have had great success. As for your wheels you might look at shape ways. There are all kinds of guys doing 3D printed wheels on there. Jon
I mean seriously, you're kickin all our asses with the real thing.......you gotta do it on model scale too? lol
Now that the summer show season is coming to a rest I've been back searching for parts for my 1/25 car. Still cannot find a snorkel hood scoop. But I did read that a lot of serious modellers are using a 70TA Challenger scoop and filing/cutting it into the correct shape. If anyone has either and willing to sell, let me know. I'm also still searching for the wheels. I know there gonna be hard to find but if I can find a the spoke portion I can cut them out and install the correct size and depth. Uhhg more clay work. Thanks for the help! Riddler
just did a search for "1/25 t top" and sifted through. Not sure exactly what they're from. They will need trimmed down front to back.
I started to make a Demon scoop for my Duster model (because my real Duster had one). I used the scoop that comes with the AMT 66 Charger model. It's a great starting point.
next time I'm in my hobby room I'll get a close pic. I just cut the underside of the front of the scoop. I still need to make the bottom. (OK, for some reason I can't attach a photo link)
