RIP Happenstance (Happy)

-
Sorry to hear that, Rob. Having just gone through that a few weeks ago with an elderly dog, I know what you are feeling.

I put him out under the cherry tree next to Clyde. This one was really tough. Happy was still a pretty young cat. We figure he was between 5-7. I called him Happenstance because I was out workin on the car one day in the driveway and heard a meow and there he was. Just by happenstance he walked up the right driveway. He will be greatly missed.

Don't ask me why because I don't think the cats color necessarily means much vs how they act (maybe it does?) but if we get another one I have wanted for it to be an orange one.... Up until the last 2 which have both been black we've had mostly a mix of grayish tiger striped ones over the years. One had "bullseye" markings/ dark and light gray.. we called him target.
Before monster and Gizmo our past cats all seem to have lasted 13-14 years. Monster died at 16 and that's what Gizmo is currently, and still going.

So sorry to hear of your loss Rob, you and Kitty are in my thoughts.

Sorry for your loss. Losing a pet really sucks!!

All of them we have had have been fixed males except for one and our " tiger" who was our only female cat of the bunch was more withdrawn than any of the males
Orange cats are like this. The males are more robust than the females. The female orange woos are often plagued with health issues. I don't know why that is, but we've seen it first hand with ours and with friend's cats too. The orange females often don't lats very long. There are exceptions it seems, but by and large, that's how it is.

I had an orange female. I named her Ginger. She lived a little past five. It took me two solid years to win her over. One night I was just sitting here and she jumped in my lap and went to sleep. After that, she was a bonafide daddy's girl. Slept with me every night.
