Hello.

My rod bearing clearnce is 0,0015. What i have read it should be 0,002-0,003. But i thought i would ask you guys first. It is a stroker 408 with a Forged scat crank and rods. I bought it as a rotating kit with bearings and everything.

Thanks
Daniel

Are you measuring or using plastigage? IMO, it's a little tight and the journal may have some taper too.

New should never be assumed to mean good. Especially with machined parts.
What rods do you have?

I would have them measured to be sure. Plastigage is a good quick check to make sure you're in the ballpark, but its not exact.

I recently built the short block 318 for my EL5 Dart, and I kept getting really tight clearances even after I went to looser bearings. I took the whole mess down to my machinist and had it measured. As it turned out, the clearances were fine, the plastigage was just showing a tighter clearance than I actually had.

.0015 is the minimum clearance id run for a hot street motor

do as moper suggested and check both rods on the same journal and see if there is any variance/tapper

but before we assume...what rpm range?

I took the stuff to the machine shop today and there was no clearence problems. so problem solved.
thanks guys
