okay so today i tore down my 318 and i was piecing its back together when i noticed that the rod bearings are not the same. The original ones have a small oil hole and my new clevete bearings do not. I am just doing a standard rebuild to the block. Has anybody ever had the rod bearings with a small hole and switch to bearings with out any??

thanks for the help!

I cannot remember any ROD bearings ever having a hole in any small block I ever put together. The mains do, though.

It depends on the application as to whether or not you want bearings with the V-notch. If it's for a low rpm pulling truck it's not a bad idea. If your building a high perf. engine, IMO, your better off without the V-notch because you don't want anymore oil on the cylinder walls for the oil rings to control than you already have.
