Roger Penske

I just hope they get their fuel problems fixed. They must have been too worried about making a deal with PHORD over the off season instead of perfecting the new fuel systems!! Ridiculous indeed!

heard they had been contacted by some teams but they didn say who, bet petty is one though:D they mentioned him in the same conversation, who knows:D

I would like to see Gibbs switch to dodge they have their own engine shop. Anybody else think that could be possible?

definately not, toyota bought joe gibbs just like they did the nascar trucks back when the dodges were starting to kick *** PRETTY REGULAR!
mopar can`t compete w/ cubic $$; if the penske team would have corporate $ like the other teams they`d still be w/ us!

:protest:

I think Petty is logical choice and there contract with F-word is over this year . I hope more than Petty comes over to Dodge . Penske cars gonna be not so good this year because Dodge is done holding Penske's hand . I laugh because Penske moving back to F-word so he can win a Championship ..... I call Bullshit Mr Penske , How many Championships did u win the last time you drove F-words . What a line of crap , true reason is $$$$$$ . I hope Dodge gets a couple teams ( at least 1 thats competitive ) but it will cost big money , i think we are gonna find out how bad Dodge wants to stay in NASCAR .

penske can have his ferds. i dont think that team is going to do any better. when it comes to drivers, its just another car. they are going to get paid no matter what they drive and honestly, i dont think the drivers could care less what make they are in. the passion and brand loyalty has been gone for years. the only way dodge is going to get back in this is by paying teams big bucks and offering an extremely competetive car and a solid engine program. it would be great to see 2 or more teams jump in the new charger next year and dish out a spanking on penske. dodge needs another great comeback.

I'm sure there are for more reasons than we know or are willing to accept for Penske moving on. Dodge has not been the most steadfast of brands when it comes to support for it's NASCAR race teams.
Ford is probably offering a package to Penske that includes, money, support, technology, and a bunch more. In reading the thread, there is one element that seems to have been forgotten. NASCAR, Ford, and Penske are businesses. Penske is a business man, first and foremost. He has to take the best deal that is placed on the table.
The idea of brand loyalty is an emotion that only those of us with no pokers in the fire can afford. Small time oval track racers might also be able to stand on "principal or profit", but that's not how it works in the real world of big time car racing.

Penske has to do what's best for his company, and himself, and I believe that's exactly what he's doing, in spite of what MoPar fans think we know.

If you have to place the blame somewhere, it seems to me that it needs to be placed at the foot of Dodge's NASCAR program. Teams don't leave a manufacturer that offers a good deal, a good program, good support, and a winning product.

Didn't Petty pull out of Dodge already and is racing GMs this year? Seems like a sin to me, hope he goes back to Dodge

petty is running fords this year. word on the streets is petty may be looking at another make next year. they are denying claims that he has been talking to dodge. but time will tell.
Frankie, your post was right on the money. no matter how much we talk brand loyalty bla bla bla , it comes down to business decisions and whats best for the teams and owners. unfortunately, it has all come down to money , and the roots of nascar have long been forgotten....or so it seems to me
