This Fall I'm giving my Dart some TLC. I will be kicking the 318 for a 500 hp 340 stroker. I have a to do list including frame connectors but have been recently debating a cage. I hadn't originally planned on making this an all out drag car. I just want good street car that will roll out but still be able to fit a couple people in it now and then. I even want to keep the front bench along with the back seat. I just want to know with this much motor am I gonna twist my car up like a coke can? I don't wanna sacrifice any hp so If I have to cage it I will. Any insight and photo's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm there with my car and no cage. I tie the sub frames and call it a day. Car doesn't twist and I cruise with 28 12.5 slicks. I just have to be careful not to hit the 11.5 mark at the track so as not to get booted.

The thing about a cage is it might just kill ya. Unless you are willing to wear full harness and HELMET every single time you step in the car, a fairly minor accident might put your head into the cage, and THAT could be bad.

The other thing about a cage is it removes all "crushability" of the car, which is what "can" absorb energy if you get hit. More stiffness of course results in MORE energy being transferred to you.
