Does anyone know what the RPM of the crankshaft is with the larger old style OEM Mopar starter. TKS.

Terry

what i wanna know is why you wanna know

not all these starters are equal to begin, and depends on how big/ good the battery 'n cables are

why not pull the coil off, crank her and see what the tach says ?

So grab a stopwatch, crank for 1 minute, count the number of kerr-err-err-err-errs and divide by 4.

no load spin on a gear reduction starter is about 1900-2400 RPM, with a 45:1 gearing off the flywheel. (There is a 3.5:1 gear reduction in the starter itself). So thats about 42-53 RPM...? waa-waa-waa-waa-vroom! remember they hand cranked old motors.....
