It was an edelbrock max fire ignition coil. I also used 8.5 mm edelbrock max fire spark plug wires.

Try your factory original coil.

I had two of the Pertronix aftermarket coils fail.

Original coil put back in and no issues since, so well worth a try.

My first thought is why are you running a large coil with a ballast resistor?

Lots of large coils run ballasts and some run a special one PLUS the original. The big old yellow Accel and the big old rectangular Mallory were that way. CHECK THE COIL MANUFACTURERS DESTRUCTIONS!!
