Hi all.

Posting because the search function is not working on my phone here..

1962 Valiant. My fuel tank may not be repairable. And I do not see any repros. What to do? Fuel cell in trunk? Or anyone come up with other solutions? Any other near-fits?

Thanks!!

Check EBay, I found a reproduction there for my 66, I think it was $154.00 with the straps. You can also get a new pad there too.

I think that the gas tanks used a single strap that ran from side to side in the early a's.

In 68, they switched to the two front to rear straps for the gas tank.

Some aftermarket tanks are set up to go either way, some only are for one particular application.

I've also been told if you use the larger 63-6 tank, it might need a "second" strap added as its a bit longer. personally don't know, just paasing info along I 've received. the 63-6 tank takes a bigger filler neck, so you would either have to get 63-6 neck or do some fab work to the 62 neck to use it. then too, if using 633-6 tank, you need a pickup for those , not the 62 one!

My 67 Barracuda had a single strap from side to side and was ok. It should be fine in an earlier A-body also....

It wasn't until 68 that they changed to the two front to rear straps.

I might have to egt my hands on a 63-66 tank... Lots of heresay, but I do not think yet I have seen anyone DO it first-hand (in a 62 Val). >grin<

Rockauto.com has one listed for $157.00. I got a tank for my 66 'Cuda from them and can't complain.
