Yeah the switches can double as coat hangers lol . I didnt search for any other #'s. Trans isn't original. The floor pans and trunk are very solid . If i do end up getting it im gonna bathe it in mystery oil and see if it'll fire up .
That would be true. My brother bought a 68 vert in 1970. Still has it. All number matching. Cowl, trunk, engine and trans all matchYou can also check the vin in the GTS registry. You can't see the last 3 of the vin, but other details can narrow it down.
I have heard that some VINs were stamped on the block by the bell housing. Worth a look.
I remember being told in the mid 1970s that the 1969 Mopar B bodies had the Vin and or sequence numbers stamp in 19 different places along with the dash tag, fender tag, stamp on the front the inner left door post, upside down on the radiator core support, on the floorboard of the front passenger seat, on the package tray behind the rear seat in front of the rear window, on the driver side of the upper trunk lip under the trunk rubber seal and some others I'm not remembering now the sequence number is the digits after the 5 or 6 digits Identifying the car make, model year and so on. I hope that I wasn't mislead back then. That would be true. My brother bought a 68 vert in 1970. Still has it. All number matching. Cowl, trunk, engine and trans all match

And the BH housingYes I believe 68 was stamped on eng by BH mount area.
Not on the bellhousing, (on 1968 only, I believe) where hand stamp on the rear of the block behind the driver side cylinder head and on the passenger side lower ear on the bottom of the block, the machine surface the oil pan bolts onto by the lower passenger side 7/16 bell housing bolt hole. And the BH housing
Steve is correctamundo. 68 was the first year for that, so you should be able to tell.Yes I believe 68 was stamped on eng by BH mount area.
Who was selling the bodies? Make a great start of a race car.Well, you can tell its a gts 383 car by the VIN, so I would certainly look for correct type rivets or signs of other hanky panky at the VIN tag area for the possibility of a rebody.....
Pieces parts are really starting to get scarce now, but you are right, it wasnt really that long ago that you could buy a whole dodge dart that wasnt rusty for the purposes of putting the parts off a highdollar Dart on them. And I do mean there were companies selling thesr bodies, not just individuals.
I used to see those ads in Mopar magazines towards the end of the print era. Ill have to dig a couple out and see who it was. Wouldnt surprise me if it was someone we all know ( or knew ).Who was selling the bodies? Make a great start of a race car.

How could you enjoy it if you died?i would die to have a 68 with a 383 and 4 speed. my grandfather bought one for me when i was about a year old. he wanted to fix it up since he had a 69 dart gts with a 340. i was about 12 when he died. i haven't seen the car since. all i remember is that it was a heavily modded 68 for street racing. personally i would have made it all original to make it look like it came off the factory floor. I've since then have been saving up to get another that's just a roller. but i do want it to have the 383 4 speed vin to keep the car original. i'm still so young so i have my whole life ahead of me to get one. right now i'm looking for a older 63 - 66 dodge dart or Plymouth valiant to have as a daily driver.
