Does anybody know if you can use a shop vac to hook up to a sand blasting cabinet for at least some degree of dust control? I know it won't work like a "real" dust collector, but I'm just wanting to keep the dust down some anyway. Thanks.

A bud has a Harbor Freight cabinet- just hook the vac to it and shove the hose outside.

It will actually work just fine. Empty it out once in awhile.

It will work to some degree but can still allow the build-up of dust inside to the point where you can't see what you're doing. The bearings in my Shop-Vac motor are suffering too.

Some shop vacs have a replacable paper filter, I would use one of those.

You could also use a prefilter 16 gallon drum Or even a 5 gallon drum to catch some of the particles. Less wear on the vac.
