Well Santa must have thought this customer was EXTRA good this year. He made a Special trip to the shop today to drop off the next foundation for this build. Drool all you want, but its spoken for and its going to be a CHEVY killer when done.

We have a bit of work to do for this block so we had better get after it.

It has "Finished" bores in it at 4.040", but it also has a spread of .003" from cylinder to cylinder, and most of them have way to much taper and out of round for my taste. Typical MP work. Plus we have to machine all the "extra" head bolt bosses out to make room for headers/roller lifters.

Nice has some serious meat around the lifters. Way out of my budget!

What will the heads be? I've got W9's that would help you with the Chevy killer part

Id love me a race block, big bore-able.

Mike, 59* or 48*?

Just get that through Mopar? I noticed that there was ONE left in depot in Warren a couple weeks ago.

after 6hrs on the mill, only a little hand blending and the lifters will fit like a glove. a little champher on the outer bolt bosses and we are good!

one can only hope someone will come out with a usable race block again..... Looking forward to more updates!

If someone does come out with one, I sure hope it a damn sight better than these were. I have 15-20hours in machine work into this thing. After mock-up of lifters and cam, I had to mill a slot on the top of the ridiculously tall lifter bore to make room for the link bar. I put a stock hydraulic lifter in there and it didn't even come up to the top of the lifter bore!

Man , you got hours just in the valley.
I know availability just plain sucks.......blocks and cam cores , but I think 48 degree is the clear way to go.
Any hard core head is gonna want those outer bolt bosses too.
Not saying there isn't power to be made with a 59 degree set up , but for labor and $$$ , I think it gets close to a push with a serious effort.

Wait a doggone minute here.................a girdle ?
No **** ?
Is there significant benefit to be had using one on a resto block ?
They are pretty meaty as is.

has nothing to do with meat and everything to do with harmonics. girdles like these help take out harmful harmonics that cause cap walk. yes you can get cap walk on a 4 bolt main. this is why a lot of factory blocks now have 6&8 bolt mains. total time in this block right now is close to 30hrs.

Making headway on the Heads. 69cc chambers, will put us at 10.1 to 1 compression. Heads are flowing well
