Yes, I believe the 70-up ones were tapered shaped going from the pulley area up to the bolt hole area....I do believe the pulley diameter and the mount holes are exactly the same though so it should still fit the later small block water pumps , just not be the "correct" style....Feel free to chime in right or wrong???? I do know that both styles fit my aftermarket waterpumps.....Unless the stock water pumps had a wider bolt flange from 70-up that they needed the taper??? But hey, after 40 years I highly doubt there are many stock water pumps left that were not replaced yet
