I have a beat up boat trailer not worth much of anything. Was under a junk boat I got for an old outboard. The boat went to the dump the trailer is "about there"

I thought I'd get a buck or two--somebody wanted a DIY utility etc

So this kid calls and it becomes that he is a minor. "But his Dad cant get it because he has the gout." And "would I deliver it to Spokane." So I tell him "Sure, if you can figure out a way to get some money over to me at least to cover the trip."

Then his Dad is on the phone, and he promises and this and that, and I simply tell him, "I can't afford to saddle up with nothing."

And it's bla bla bla and blishy blashy blizh blazh and who knows maybe they ARE honest folks.

You ever showed up somewhere and it was a blank piece of property? Or whoever lived there knew nothing about whatever it was you were there for? No thanks girls. It might just get scrapped instead

Not this time, that was an "almost" buying an engine. Went over nobody answered, finally some guy comes out "there is no engine for sale here anywhere" But it turned out the woman I talked to "was asleep" even though I'd talked to her not 2 hours earlier that morning. Drug house. Big time

Part of the problem is people keep insisting on attempting to send large files via text. I simply don't want to deal with it. You want to communicate by PHONE? Then you use VOICE

I had some asshat want me to drive two hours so he could see a car I listed for $300. He had every justification for me to do it, but he wasn't sure he wanted the car. I rudely told him to fly a kite, the guy persisted texting for a couple of days. I sold the car to the first person who called. CL has been good to me, but it seems I always have to deal with at least one idiot for every item I sell.

i had a great deal on some easter eggs on craiglist
i bought what amounted to 42 pounds for 45 bucks

there were 150 bags of them, still sealed and each egg was individually wrapped in foil...and the expiration date is not untill october 2022

met up at a parking lot from a local restaurant
it was a good deal

now, here is the kicker...i bought these msotly for my sundayschool class

i contracted a little bit of a cold, so i almost lost my voice, i could still talk, but i couldnt holler
so i told my kids, listen up, i can not holler at you if you misbehave or yap while im talking SO instead of hollering at you, if you misbehave, im gonna chuck an egg at you

i only had to hit 3 of em and the rest stayed in line

Something about hauling a propane tank around their property for a barbecue they are building. Not clear if they are building a barbecue OUT OF an old tank, or if it's LPG fired. I doubt barbecue and the over-weight condition it suggests is good for gout, either

I had a Jeep for sale last fall, it needed work and I was very upfront and honest about it's issues.
Had some guy reach out to me wanting the Jeep. We talked back and forth, seems solid.
Got some sad story about not being able to come look at the Jeep because the wife works, he has a handicapped kid, yadda yadda.
I load the Jeep up and drive an hour one way to this guys home.
He comes out looks over the Jeep, then decides he's going to try to undercut me on price, like only wanted to pay me 25% of the asking price.
Tried giving me the sob story because his kid is handicapped, what it would cost to fix etc.
I just got back in the truck and drove home. He messaged me saying he really wanted the Jeep and he'd pay me more.
Nope, I wouldn't have sold that Jeep to that guy for all the white on rice.
I ended up selling the Jeep, and got what I wanted for it and an extra $25 to deliver it to the guy who did come to the house and looked at it while still on the trailer.

reminds me of this one incident we had a few years ago
we had just joined the church (long story for a different day)
anyway, i get a call from a family in church asking if they can stay at our home for a few days because they need to be out of their apartment and there is a 2 day overlap before they can get into their new one

well, that few days turned into a week and as soon as we talked to other people at church, we found out they play this game more often

well, i had given them one week to get their stuff in order and out of my house
on the 7th day, i evicted them

you should have heard the stories she was telling me, their kids were gonna freeze to death, and id be responsible

under the law, the Israelites were not allowed to harvest the edge of their fields so that the poor, the needy, the destitute could go in and harvest them

you know what that is?
God's welfare program
He provides the sustenance, you need to go and work for it

that weeds out the lazy

so, i helped them, untill i found out they were not doing anything to help themselves and solely relying on hand outs
that is how we got to day 7

Decades ago I hung out on the radio amateur "75 meter band" with a particular bunch of misfits. We had a great time most the time. There was a somewhat truck driver on there, and interestingly, the last 3 letters of his call could be "Lets Get Drunk." (LGD)

So one time he came up through here and invited himself to stay overnight. Hell before I knew it I was feeding him supper and he was complaining about what he had!!! It was good enough for me!!! And then the next morning it became obvious he wanted to hang around!!! I simply told him, "I have to get to work and you can't stay here while I'm gone" so moocher or not I locked the house and went to work!!!!

THEN when I get to talking to "a few of" the other guys, on the phone, it turns out this is NORMAL OPERATION for this clown.

On a side note, there was another one I was not particularly fond of. Dishonest. Anyhow it turns out "LGD" (Lets Get Drunk) and the "another one" were somehow erecting some antenna, and LGD shot a line (wire?) with a bow/ slingshot/?? AND WENT OVER THE POWER LINE and then the "another one" caught it!!! We called him "sparky" after that. I guess it really screwed him up. Burned holes in his arms and all kinds of damage. "I guess" they are both gone by now

And that folks, is why "we" call them "another annoying story from the old days"

Yup, that's usually the case. they go from place to place wearing out their welcome, also they take into account those that are non confrontational and wont say anything about it.

yeah i heard they stayed a few months with one elderly lady from church
im pretty sure the deacons ended up taking care of that

but, that was their M.O.
i remember at one point they were saying something about staying at a hotel, but them not accepting their card
so i offered to call the front desk, and off course the whole story changed
