Scampin!!!!!!

Found some more rot….northeast cars suck. Not the prettiest but it is now solid ( please don’t judge my welding skills) Some grinding and a little more work and you’ll never know it happened. Transmission is filled up. Exhaust is in for the final time. Once the trunk gets re sprayed I can mount the battery in the trunk. And I can hopefully fire up the 340 again. So much work to do with nice weather around the corner but I’m doing my best

With months of grinding in the garage the scamp hasn’t seen daylight. Today was gorgeous so I took it off the lift and gave her a bath. Gives me some motivation to finish this thing up and actually enjoy it for a change.

A couple days off of work means some work on the scamp. Z bar got all new bushings and clips and regreased Steering box is in. Torsion bars are in. Steering components are back in. Calipers and upper arms got a fresh coat. Soon I’ll be able to roll this thing out of the garage and give the shop a deep clean. Next up. Exhaust

Your brake calipers are on the wrong sides. That’s why it won’t bleed.

Got the scamp sorted out enough to take her for a spin around the block. It made it ! But Ofcourse there’s always a catch. 90 degree filter adapter leaked at the head of the bolt causing it to drip onto the header and burn off. (Brand new gasket kit on it) Luckily this happened when I was only a few houses down the street. Waiting for it to cool down so I can get her back in the garage and up on the lift. I’m thinking of going back to regular style and running a shorty oil filter. I’m kinda fed up with this leak. But some progress is better than no progress.

After some 4 speed issues I bit the bullet and put in a rebuilt 4 speed into the scamp. That’s all in. Carb has been taken apart. New diaphram/ power valve/ seals. It ran after I took it apart and put it back together so for the first time ever taking a carb apart that’s a good thing however I need to get it dialed in. Some progress is better than no progress…. I’m working on a template for a wiper delete plate. I’d love to get the Mopar “m” stamped into it. I also love the look of this plate that I found on the interweb from the rad to the front of the grill. Has anyoneeeee ever done one of these before?

if you have or know someone with a bead roller it's easy enough to add the mopar 'm' to your wiper delete plate. when i first got mine we drew some fairly tight flames on a test piece and they came out very well.
neil.

Well a little bit of fine tuning has turned into a nightmare. I believe that after the car got painted I still had not installed subframe connectors. Now add that with it being beaten on with the fresh 340 and on and off of a lift there must have been a lot of flexing on top of some possible rust that made its way into there but long story short the quarter panel cracked from the quarter window seal all the way to the edge of the quarter. Naturally the filler and the paint cracked. Well I did a little digging. (Literally) and this is where we are at. As shown I have a clean donor piece that was cut out of a car that I’m praying to god I can use to fix this. If not it’s gunna snowball into a new quarter and repainting the entire car entirely. This is probably one of the worst possible places for an issue like this to develop on a dart/scamp body. I’m ready to just throw in the towel but that won’t get the car back on the road driving. Wish me luck
