OK listen up. No scrap yard is supposed to buy a vehicle without entering the Vin # into a ncstate database. That data base does not interface with NCIC.

Calling your local PD or SO. Probably won't help much in this case. But what will is for you to call your local DMV inspector. He has direct access to the system ALL scrapyards in NC have to use. If no Vin is visible on the vehicle then the yard has to call a DMV inspector out before purchasing.

Not so here. They will take anything as long as it;s 1980 and prior......and they also take them if they are cut up. I cut up a 2000 Ford Focus that I had out here for several years. I called the scrap yard and they said they couldn't take it whole but if I cut it into several pieces, it was not a car anymore. So Kitty and I hacked that puppy up into about 6 pieces, loaded onto my 5x8 utility trailer and hauled it right on down.

Yall would died seeing the Cadillac in front of me at the scrap yard a while back! It was literally riding on the rear bumper.....because there was a HUGE industrial motor jammed into the trunk, so big they had to take the trunk lid off!! Wish I had my camera for that one!!

There's been a number of incidents reported in the city of theives taking the A/C condensers from churches! One incident they stole the second replacement condenser before it was even hooked up!!!!

Yep. NC also made a law change on the A/C components. Now a scrap yard can only buy A/C stuff from people in the business of removal, repair, or replace a/c stuff.
