I'm going to be installing my 8.75 rear today..

I have the new gasket already. i've heard from a few people that I should also silicon the Pig onto the axle housing? is this recommended?

if so, what side of the gasket do you put the silicon onto? the side that will be touching the housing? or the side that will be touching the Gear assembly..

thanks

I used a very light application on both sides of the gasket and I have had no leaks at all.

i i have a gasket i don't use silicone. if i don't have a gasket i use silicone.. never had a problem.

i run without gaskets, i just use the dark gray permatex silicon. i haven't had any issues with bearings or axle splines. its all preference. if you use a gasket leaks are easier to prevent. all silicon requires a very clean surfaces.
