I bought wiring harness tape from Summit and am using it on my American Autowire project. I know the tape is supposed to stick to itself but when I get to the end of a wrap the tape often comes loose. What is the secret to getting it to stay?
If its a cloth type, semi sticky....when you get to the end wrap one wire and then back wrap about one or two inches then "CUT" the harness tape, don't pull apart.
The factory tied the ends of the factory harness tape. It takes some practice to do it as well as they did, but it's worth the effort if you're trying to maintain a factory appearance.
I bought wiring harness tape from Summit but it isn't sticky at all, 1" wide.
Twist it at the end, tie it, cut off the excess.
Did my entire AAW harness this way, easy, no stick tape is the best.
A drop of super glue will secure it. Cut the tape so the end is on the backside of the harness and super glue it (go real easy with the SG or it’ll look messy) and you’ll never see it
I’ve had pretty good luck by reverse rolling the factory tape after untying it and then wrapping it back up and retrying it. I’ll finish the end with a wrap of fresh super 3M 33 chassis tape or3M and tie it.
Well, if you don't need to look absolutely factory correct, a small black zip tie will hold it. Cut off the excess and depending on where it is, no one will ever notice it.
