Self adjuster issues

Okay so what is happening is every few months I have a brake issue. It always seems to be my self adjuster cam pops off. I have read the service manual a bunch and I am pretty sure I have everything in place but the still fall.

Should the cam contact the star wheel on the inside or outside edge? Same question with the adjuster spring.

Your brakes should look like the 67 Dart below. I used the new-style self-adjusters in my 65 Dart (10" drums, left rear shown). I bought a hardware kit at Autozone for a ~73 Dart. I had to re-use the shoe pins for the rear since a different width shoe in 65. You probably figured out by now that you need a shop manual. Note that the secondary shoe (aft) should have a longer lining. Not sure why mine look the same length. I vaguely recall that all shoes in the box were the same (installed a few years ago).
