What are the thoughts of spraying sealer primer then doing body work?

I did that on some of the old land rovers I restored. I used RM EP over the aluminum panels on the advise of a paint rep. Body filler doesn't stick too well to aluminum but did to the EP. I had no problems and think having a good high zinc EP barrier isn't a bad idea. I beat the hell out of all those trucks in the bush and never had a problem.
