Hey Mark,

I could not access those sites to see your car (BBDart site says I need to be a member & photobucket blocked by my company). I assume it is further along than the pictures you posted in your gallery in 2010. Can you attach some pictures here?

By the way, very cool picture of you and Big Daddy!

Heres mine. I've had both fastbacks at Carlisle a few times over the years, so many of you probably recognize them. The turquoise fastback has old rust issues that have returned and now needs some body work on the rear quarters.
I sold the blue convertible many years ago and replaced it with a green convertible that had a more solid body. The blue convertible eventually ended up in Redondo Beach, California and was resto-modded.
The green convertible now needs minor body work and paint. The green vert and the turquoise fastback will have to wait till my 68 Charger is done though. The green vert will be painted blue to match the convertible I sold.
The only recent pictures here are of my white fastback.

Wow! - Nice school of fish you have/had!

Question - I assume you painted the inner fenders of your white fish red and that is not some option (like olds) available on 68 fish.

Thanks for sharing,

Red plastic wheel house liners were a $46.55 factory option on 68 Barracudas (fastbacks and hardtops only). And I have the original window sticker showing the car was ordered with them. This was the first Barracuda I had ever seen with that rare option and that was the main reason I bought it back in 1985. I have since seen a few others with the liners. Since the shape of the inner rear wheel wells was a bit different on the convertibles, you couldn't get the liners on the convertibles.

A similar option was offered on 1966 Pontiac GTOs, but on the 4-4-2's you mention, the front fenderwells are actually painted red, they aren't plastic liners like on the GTO and Barracuda.
The plastic liners were an appearance only option not intended to have any practical use. But, they did prevent rust in the front fenders and if the trailing edge of the rear liners had come down a bit further than they would heve protected the lower rear quarters as well.

Learn something new everyday.

Man, that makes your nice fish even cooler!

Thanks for the info & pics.

The opening ad for this page says rear folding seat optional on a fastback. Anyone seen one without it? Thought they all folded.

The folding rear seat was standard up through 68, and was optional on 69s. I believe most 69's did have the folding rear seat, but I know some 69s were built with the fixed rear seat. The fixed rear seat looked the same. It just didn't have the mechanism that allowed it to fold down.

Probably a cost reduction to the standard build. If you want folding, pay for it.
