How my fish became a drag car...

Here are some pictures of how my fish was built. I bought the car last September from Dave Young, the Technical Editor for Mopar Muscle magazine. Dave built the car and both engines that have been in the car. He also raced it and taught his wife to successfully bracket race in it.

So the 1st phase of the build goes like this:

Buy a good base car (His wife is bashful and therefore wore the helmet for the picture)
Remove everything not needed
Replace floors
Add frame connectors and torque boxes
Install 12 point roll cage & paint interior

How my fish became a drag car...

The car and engine builds were done as projects featured in Mopar Muscle Magazine. The car build was called the B3 Bomber (Barracuda, Bracket, Budget). The premise of the build was that if you were selective about what you bought new vs used, and performed most of the labor yourself, you could build a reliable, consistant, 10 second bracket car for about $10,000 (2005 dollars).

So the 2nd phase of the build goes like this:

Take a 400 B block, stroke it to 451, and put enough speed parts to get about 650 HP
Buy a wrecked drag car to provide lots of misc parts
Refresh the transmission from the wrecked drag car
Order a new Strange 60 spool rearend w/ 4:30 Pro gears
Upgrade the driveshaft U Joints to 1350's
Attach rear end with new Super Stock Springs
Add pinion snubber
Rebuild stock brakes front and rear
Rebuild stock front end

Hi 73AboEE!

Good to hear from you again. As usual, you manage to find some of the best fishing holes to catch the Nostalgic fish in. Very nice altereds in this bunch.

My fishing holes are just about all fished out.

Thanks for posting, take care of yourself.
