Side rearview mirrors

I am not sure where the driver side mirror is supposed to go on my fish. The 67 has the driver side mirror pretty far forward. My 68 has holes where it was (and others were) next to the rear of the wing vent. A 69 door I have has the holes there also.

Where should the mirrors be? I also plan to put one on the passenger side.

Also, is it a good idea to reinforce the door skin underneath where the mirror goes? The holes look like the door skin takes abuse from the mirror being moved / hit.

I think you are correct in the different placements. If you're doing a 68, go with that one
