How do you get this damn thing off? I unscrewed the one screw that is visible just by looking at it but it seems like it's being held onto the door by another screw or bolt under the base that I cant figure out how to get to. What's the trick? Thanks for your help guys.

you will have to take the door panel off. once you do this you can snake your hand up in the door to find the culprit. it is a nut as i recall that is used on the front side of the base. there is a stud off the mirror base that is threaded. good luck

Is there also a removable reinforcement plate that goes on the stud, or does the door have this reinforcement welded in already?

I don't think it's either - just the door shell metal, as I remember. It's usually a nice place for rust to form around that hole, if the base seal leaks.

Is this the standard mirror or a Rallye or Sports mirror ? The standard mirrors I have removed were all held on with one screw.

Good question Adam. I assumed he was refering to the chrome remote mirror like the one on my Dart. I looked at it when I read his query, and saw that it uses a chrome screw from the OUTSIDE, and has a stud and nut from the INSIDE, hense my question that Scamp answered.
