Sign of Fuel Pump going south?

Cruising the interstate to work this morning, with 1/2 tank or better of fuel, foot on accelerator, car quits pulling fuel for second, similar to running out of gas, I let off, push pedal, and returns to normal, 1/2 mile later same thing happens.

Is this sign of fuel pump getting ready to die? Never had one die on me before.

worst part is, I need to get the car home...it did finish the last 3 miles of commute without issue.

Less than 5,000 on fuel filter, though that don't mean a lot.

Thanks for any ideas, that this may be.

It sounds like the fuel filter to me.

Uh yea, lets try 15000 miles on that filter...whoops. pump is fine. Filter, black as night.
Next time probably go to metal. Noticed the Wix is getting warped due to heat.
