Silly question but... change timing after swtiching ECU?

It could mean it's leaning out because the old box wasn't firing strong enough and causing a richer mixture. Once corrected, it may be the new box is firing properly, burning all the fuel and you're going lean. You may need to re-tune the carburetor.
 
I had a situation where the center shaft of the dist would walk up and down excessively like 1/8 to 1/4" IIRC . It caused a misfire to the point where the engine finally would not run. Before I found the shaft issue, I changed the dist cap, rotor, points, condenser and coil. Still had the problem, I did note that the center electrode was absolutely gone . Pulled out the dist and put the OE dist. That had been sitting on the shelf since 1980 something. Engine fired right up no popping, no missing, and has been running just fine ever since.

Not saying that this is your problem but worth checking
