Hello

As usual here for help.
I have a six pack (340) in my car, lately I've noticed some discrepancies with how the hoses are placed in my car.
If anyone can help me and explain to me the reason/purpose of the hose being where it's at, I'd be really grateful. Seems every so often I have to explain to this mechanic he had my mopar set up wrong... And why.
This time I think it's wrong again but I just don't know why, in pics they look different, maybe I'm right and the pics are wrong ?
Regardless of right and wrong I'm sure I will get the right answers here.
Please any and all help will be appreciated.

You will see that my car's carb has the bottom hose going to the valve cover while the top is missing.
While the factory pic has it the other way around, the top hose goes to the valve cover and the top one going somewhere else.

The bottom picture is my car, (colour pich

The top pic is from the Mopar description...

I just can't see where one of the hoses is connected to and why ?

I'd like to know if the hose from the bottom of the carb is in the right place and the top of the carb also has a house opening (that is not placed) do I need to have one there and if so where does it go to?

The middle carb is the one I'm talking about...

Thank you gentlemen (ladies as well..)

I think you're kinda comparing apples and oranges. The shop manual pic is a big block, yours is a small block. FSM pic is, I think, of a CA emissions stds engine, which has more hoses. your aftermarket valve covers have the PCV in rt v. cover, I think the pcv should be opposite the breather, and the breather in FSM pic is in rt v. cover, for big and small block.

Ok Ok ...bear with me as I'm really uneducated with what we are taking about.

Do I need to change the valve covers (on the other side) from where they are now ?
Or just remove the PCV valve and place it on the driver's side?

I know these Q's may sound stupid to you but you are talking with a dumb owner...

Thanks for the help so far.

PS one more thing the hose on mine hours from the top on the carb to the valve cover whereas in the factory pic it's the other way around. Is that correct or should I swap that?

Need a closer pic of your setup, so the perspective is similar, but the only thing you're "missing" is the bowl vent connection. On a big block, there's a nipple on the valve cover breather where it attaches. You could use a small foam filter on the carb just to keep dust and stray bugs out. Your valve cover setup is fine, as long as there's a breather on the opposite side cover, like rustycowll69 said.

Yes I have seen that pic and thread but it's not really answering my question....i don't see where that black thick house on the bottom goes to. You see it going towards the back (firewall direction) but have no clue where it connects.

@Demonic
I believe on the other side (i'm going to look now) my valve cover just has a breather...
The pic is not that clear but you do see that I only have a breather cap on the driver's side.

Right. Factory caps have a nipple for the hose.
Is it a PITA to fill the oil with the cap by the firewall like that?
