I have a new mopar performance small block six pack intake. On the bottom side of the intake there is a square flange in the center where a plate would be installed. Should I go through the trouble of making a plate to put there or will it be fine without it. Are there any known issues with or without the plate.

A cover plate is not necessary. You can make one if you wish....

Let me know if you make the plate. Posta picture up.

I will post pic if I do. I wonder if there was some type of insulation in there to block some of the heat?

I doubt that. The standard intakes, 2 & 4 bbl. also have this plate held on with rivets. It blocks the hot oil. The heads hot air takes care of that section.
