I picked up on a slant 6 which had a tranny attached to it out of a 70 Dart. The motor has the numbers 2806830-8 BH. It has 5 freeze plugs and is in pretty good shape. This motor will be going in my 68 Valiant.

The motor that is currently in the 68 valiant has a cracked block with 3 freeze plugs. So I plan on taking what I can off of it for spare parts and dumping the block.
The 68's current cracked block motor has the numbers 2463430-13.

At some point did someone put an older model motor(2463430-13) in this car? If so, what are the chances that i can't use the same tranny?

Would it be best to just match up what I have from the 70 Dart? The tranny and the motor?

the crankshaft register -- is the issue-- look at the one on your 68 if it is the later large style than your tranny is good to go..

I would use the tranny that you know is good. the picture posted is the difference in the register diameter-- i do not remember the dimension-- this is just for a visual reference. the 2 flex plates are from slant 6-- one early one later

In the last week, I posted a chart of block casting#'s, so search my posts. I already forgot the numbers.

I just found a print out of block castings. 67-74 225 compatible block castings are:

2463430
2806830
2202857
2205528

When unit is used with a 904 trans, Assembly #3515827 Chrysler Part #2515608 sleeve should be used in crankshaft Pilot hole. Crankshaft centering ring is 2.157".

But then again for the same motor 2463430 for 60-67 shows it uses a 1.962" Crankshaft centering ring.
