Slant-6 Engines are Dangerous!!!

-
Most manufacturers, or at least the advertising agencies they hired, came up with some bizarre ideas and claims to move the metal back then. Many years ago, I watched a promotional film done by Studebaker for it’s dealers that extolled the virtues of their new 1964 line of cars and trucks. One of their claims was that the V8 cars had all new carburetor speed ranges. It’s been well over 30 year now and I have yet to learn what a carburetor speed range actual is. The carburetors in their 1964 cars were the exact same as they put in their 1963 cars. I guess if it sounded impressive you ran with it? I believe even Chrysler referred to the tail fin styling of either the ‘56 or ‘57 cars as being “directional stabilizers” in some ads?

Looks like my lawn mower...
Think the only thing I ever did on a corvair is replace the belt...why does it look like its missing the rad cap.....
Yes 54 all the mb sixes had the slant
Anyone ever heard of the Laydown Offy style Indy Roadsters that ran @ Indy starting in the mid 50s? Like all roadsters engine offset to left, but also laid over to right side nearly flat in car.
Engineered by George Salih & first of many built by Quinn Epperly who worked for Frank Kurtis before opening his own shop where he also built bodies for Craig Breedloves' Spirits, & Don Prudhommes Flying Wedge.
Wins in '57 & '58 & outside pole by Bobby Marshman in '62, finishing fifth, were best finishes, & last run in '64 by Bill Cheesbourg.
