Hello all,

I'm wanting to install a coolant warmer and a 90 degree carb adaptor on the offy intake I put on the slant in my 81 RAM. Looking to make it run as good as possible

I'm having some trouble finding anyone aside the Raso Enterprises (http://autoparts.rasoenterprises.com/custom-parts/custom-mopar)

So to the point, has any of you guys ever bought anything from Raso Enterprises?
If so, was it worth it?

Also, if you guys know of any alternative business where I can possibly get parts like these.

As you can tell, I'm trying to avoid making them myself unless I have to.

Here's a few pics for your enjoyment!

I got a Raso kit . Used it on my 225 with an Offy and Clifford short headers. Parts were cheap to buy, came with all hardware. I used 2- 3\8 nipples and 2- 90 s. I used standard heater hose. Fit was perfect. I used silicone to seal it up. Don't bother with the silicone hose they sell, you have tons of clearance.

Good Luck
John

Thanks

Yea, got a lot of room in there. Have since got it back together, runs and drives great just takes coughs and sputters when cold.

Did you notice any improvement with the intake warmer?

I would think it would take 5 minutes or so to get any heat into the coolant and start heating up the intake plenum. So if it is just cold starts, then this may not be the ticket. You're in FL, not North Dakota..... An exhaust heat stove would heat the plenum faster, but getting it to cut off when hot would be the trick.

Looks like an Orange box standard type Chrysler ignition system on your fender well. I would expect you to achieve much, much better cold start performance with an HEI conversion. I'd recommend heading there first.

It seems you have no experience with a water heated manifold.

On my car, i need less then 45 seconds for the engine to reach 100*. This is enough to prevent carb icing and reach a good idle. Within 2 miles the engine is at 180* and the manifold is at the same temperature.

My water heated adapter is by Ford Motor Company. It is found on the FE series of engines from the mid sixties. There is both 2v and 4v varities. They turn up on ebay all the time. They sandwiches between the carburator and manifold. The Raso adapter should work just as good.
