Is there a way to take slop out of steering box on a 68 dart 270....Wheel has excess travel when going straight down the road...Thanks in advance to answers

Lots of threads, Try searching "steering coupler" in the appropriate forum for starters.
You might also think of having an alignment shop look it over.

Have you checked the idler arm yet? A little wear acts just like that. Jack up the front end and check for up and down slop. Good luck.

I'm with AJ. Slop in the wheel could be pretty much any part in the entire steering system. Or worse, a combination of the play in every component.

Has the suspension been rebuilt? When was the last time it got a new coupler, pitman, idler, and tie rod ends? If that stuff isn't new I would check all of it before I adjusted the steering box.
