Small Block Parts interchangability

Found out my cammed 318 is toast.
Had several bad lifters, and now they say that the cam is flat. WE seem to just be finding more problems as we go deeper.
(318 was purple cammed and used for racing)
If I put in a crate eninge, say upgrade to 340/360, are most of the parts interchangable - starter, Holly carb, manafold, etc?

yes, most all of that stuff will port right on over.

balancer (though the new motor should come with one) will not, and there's considerations on the timing cover depending if it's pre 70 and the crank pulley bolt pattern, but other than that you should be good to roll.

you'll need different/modified motor mounts for the 360

I heartily recommend the book, Performance Automotive Engine Math on Amazon.

Check the port runner size for the manifold/heads, they should match. I suspect that you already have a decent top end, and you could probably get away with just a shortbus.

You're gonna have to get some full length headers with cutouts, because **** the HOAssholes. I'm totally not biased here.

As I recall the pass. mount is the same but the driver side
would need a spacer as the ears are different spacing on the block.
