Hi, is anyone running the closed chamber heads on there 340. My engine has a positve deck of about 0.18. Thanks

that would work with a .060thick headgasket wouldnt try it with anything less..
i have the 340heads that are machined for pistons above the deck but looking back it feels alitle like painting myself into a corner
 
Yes thats why I want to run the closed chamber as I have another zero decked shortblock for the future. Thanks
 
What is the advantage of the closed chamber heads instead of the ones made for the 340? Jeff
 
diference is that the ones made for the 340 are cut like stock type heads
the 340heads work well with pistons that have a positive deckheight since the cutout is there to make clearance for the pistons reason for using a thick gasket with popup pistons is that if/when you build another shortblock you can build it with modern/better/lighter pistons at zerodeck
hope it makes some sense
 
I run the small chamber .My pistons stick out around .010 I use the .060 from sce.I did run them with a .045 no problems but the comp was too high.
 
.035 is close. (pump) Octane issues huh. I can see that.
