So I have a "smart" phone. I hate it. I loathe it with every cell in my body. I want to go back to a regular basic flip phone. Is there any way to transfer my phone contacts from the android to the basic phone, or do I have to program them in one at a time?

I always have my carrier move everything over

Is there a brick and mortar place you work with?
That's where I would start

Why don't you write it all down into a Rolodex and get yourself a rotary dial phone dude, just get rid of that cell phone all together and then when you want to comment on fabo just write joey or tool man Mike ask them to post it for you. Lol

I don't post using my phone. In fact, I don't even access the internet on my phone. I barely use it for text and I HATE THAT.

Even the most basic flip phones have bluetooth on them- just link the two phones and you should be able to send all your contacts to the new phone.
Well see buddy, if I knew how to do that, I would. You have no idea how tech challenged I am.

If your phone uses a SIM card, you can save all your contacts to the SIM. Now, install the SIM in the new phone, and go to your contacts. You should be able to access the ones on the card and save them to the phone. The other option is to try sending them via Bluetooth, which I've done in the past.

I have a dumbphone as well. I get a lot of crap for it, but at least I don't have an electronic leash.

I HATE texting. And funny thing is, whenever I tell people that, it seems like they text me more.
Agreed. When people text me and require more than a "yes" or "no", I just call them back. It never ceases to amaze me why people want to waste an hour texting back and forth, when a two minute phone call takes care of it.
As mentioned above, your phone carrier will likely be able to transfer your contacts and any photos you may have lickety-split.
Honestly, you're not the only one- a lot of people are going back to flips.

Are you talking about a new flip phone? If you have a new one, take it into your nearest carrier store, that’s what they get paid to do, they will transfer all that over.

Your first mistake is buying an android, get an iPhone if you were going to go back to a smart phone.

Tried the carrier. They're zero help.

I don't want a smart phone. That's the whole point.

I know, an android phone is pretty difficult to use. What I was meaning is that the iPhone is easy to use. I’m sure a member here would gladly transfer all your contacts over if you sent the phones to them.

If I can figure out how to link them with blootoof I can do it.

I would rather text than talk on the phone that way you can respond when you have time and you don't have to stop what your doing to shoot the **** when you're busy.

But it's all personal preference.

The only thing I don't do and I hope none of you do..... is text and drive. I'll keep the phone in my bag in the trunk because when I drive, that's all I do.

Good luck with your transfer. I think it depends on the operating system in your flip phone that will determine what you can and can't do. Operating systems are like Languages and some operating systems can't "talk" or understand the language of the smart phones so that's the limitations.

If I'm busy, I just don't answer. That's why I have voice mail.

It's hard to give a good answer because it depends on the phone you have and the one you're moving to.

Most smartphones save everything to whatever account you associate with it. Usually that's your Google profile, but if it's a Samsung phone, then they usually try to trick you into using their profile and system. It gets confusing, even if you know what you're doing.

If you know the model of phone you have, and the model you want or are switching to, you can post that and some of us more tech savvy folks might be able to help navigate the mess.

The carrier is consumer cellular. So far, they've been no help as they say there's no way to do it. But if both phones have blootoof, I think it can work.

It should. The particulars can vary though depending on the actual hardware. But bluetooth transfer should work.

I haven't played with many (any) flip phones since probably 2008 or so, but even back then there were ways to get at the storage on the phone to read/write which let us transfer all kinds of things.

Why exactly?
You aren't obligated to load it with all the features that are offered.
You don't have to text if you don't want to either.
Why would a simple phone be better if the one you have works? Why spend money again?

Because it's a malfunctioning piece of **** and I hate it. The touch screen activates all the time from my face hitting it and this particular phone has NO settings to stop that from happening.

On another note, I was able to access my google account and find all my contacts there, so maybe I can figure out how to export them to my new phone.

This is 100% correct.

If you’re not a gamer or crap like that, an iPhone is far superior to that android junk.

Try an iPhone first.

Im at least as technologically retarded as you are, probably more. I resisted a smart phone for as long as I could.

Ive had my iPhone since early September 2021. I use it way more than I thought I would.

When I’m on the phone with someone talking technical crap (or my mentor who loves to torment me…it’s like a college level quiz every call) I can take a quick picture and text it to them to clear it up.

Try the iPhone first. You might change your mind.
