Most basic phones these days are pretty advanced. I still use one too. My reason is that I'm forced to sit in front of a computer for work on most days, so having a basic flip phone for me is a way to 'disconnect' when I'm not at work.
Your contacts should be saved using some sort of cloud storage. The flip phone you get should come with directions on how to sync with your cloud and upload your contacts. At least, that's how it's worked for me. It's a pretty simple process, but I've got Verizon. It may vary by carrier.
