Started life as a 273-180 3spd.By the mid nineties I built a blown 340 that has served me flawlessly.I’m now going on 71 so decided to go one more round.Theres a lot to tell about the last fifty years ,but for now I’ll go forward. The new power calls for a complete update. Most of what I do and what I think is old school,so bear with me But if I’m headed down a dead end rabbit hole speak up! As car sits,340+030 8.5 TRW,Stock AAR heads,Racer brown dual pattern 545 lift on 114lc headman 1 7/8 fender wells.Small rotor 671 @ 7psi.Aluminum case 23 spl,no OD.Narrowed dana 44 with 4.27 and ratchet lock.SS springs moved in 3in.OK now the upgrade 5.9mag +030 Eagle 4” forged,Scat H beams with 7/16 2000 bolts.34 cc Icon dish pistons,Mahle file to fit moly’s Trickflow 190 heads.Bullet custom roller blower grind single pattern 590 on 114cl Harland sharp 1.6 on top.Going with a super sniper dual throttle body, and Holley hyper spark.Engine is done.got a champion 4 core to replace the current bronco 3 core.Changing gearing from 4.27 to 3.54.Pics of current setup.

Nice! How did it end up with a Dana 44 in it?

Sometime around 1970 I bought the first 340 6pack motor that hit the salvage market ($700)over the next couple months went through a few 7 1/4s. Then picked up an 8 3/4 out of a 59 Savoy? To wide, and rubbed the fuel tank but made it work with a tank from a 62 valiant. Then during the blower build,I picked up a 44 from an IH scout 2 and narrowed it myself and resplind the axles.I figured that a 44 in a valiant was = to a 60 in a road runner. So far all is good, all though it does have a twist in an axle now,so a set of Moser's are in the works.

Looks like an awesome update to me! I didn't see an entrance to a rabbit hole anywhere....lol. You've planned well, so you should have little, if any trouble. Will you be able to run the engine on a dyno to sort it out before you install it in the car? That might make it easier to fix something like a leak if it occurred. Like you, I'm a few years older than my cars. While they're just as much fun as they were when we were young, it ain't nearly as easy as it was when we were kids!

No dynos close, one around 90 miles south @$1500 a day.BUT! "We don't do Mopars."No dyno, was a deciding factor in going with the super sniper setup, should make tuning a mite bit easier.

I am amazed you kept the car that long.

I think I saw a small block blower manifold in mech parts for sale last week. Gotta start somewhere.
Careful when buy a sbm blower manifold.most move the blower to far forward to clear the dizzy. In order to clear you need to shorten distributor almost two inches. They will work forward, but I worry about lean in rear and rich in front

Well, on the rack today.looks pretty good for last being done in 1995.A few hours of cleaning and touch up and good to go.trans, clutch, and tank out.Two hours to unbolt headers.engine out tomorrow.
