Soda blasting Alt.?

I want to clean the outside of the Alt. that came with my donor engine. It's a mid 70's square back. I don't have a way to remove the pulley. Could I soda blast it without taking it apart? I would use regular baking soda and as little pressure as possible. If I did this, could I just hose the whole thing off with the hose? Will welcome any other ideas out there.

You can buy the correct puller at the parts store. I'd definitely disassemble the unit first.
