'nother question for you: I'm planning to put new "whiskers" on the doors (window wipes). I think I want to remove the windows to get at the old ones w/o damaging anything and to install the new ones. What's the trick to removing the windows? I've already got the interior panels removed and the regulators exposed. Thanks
Are you really sure you want to do that? Getting the windows aligned back up is a pita. If you roll the window all the way down you will/should be able to pry the old whiskers off and install the new ones. (I used tape on the outside door metal to not chip the paint when I removed the old ones on my wife's old dart). I'm still fussing with my windows in the convertible since they are sloppy and need to be tightened up. It seems that a roller and a bushing need to be replaced and I converted to a power motor too!
but if you really want to here it is from the 66 dart service manual.
sounds easy and it is, just the alignment is a b#tch
GLASS REPLACEMENT
Removal and remove glass from run channels.
(1) Loosen window track adjusting nuts
(these are on the latch end of the door )
(2) Remove regulator arm from lift bracket channel
(that's the welded track you can feel the regulator arm is hooked to on the inner door structure)
(3) Remove glass from door. (duh)
(4) Remove lift bracket from glass.
(you can pry it out of the holes using a PLASTIC wedge or tool)
Before installing glass, lubricate all moving parts of the regulator
(1) Install lift bracket on glass.
~(2) Position glass into door opening.
(3) Install regulator arm roller into channel of glass
(4) Position glass into run channels.
(5) Adjust door glass.
(this is the time consuming process.)
