What would be some of the MOPAR sources

you'd expect to offer the best prices on a

pair of Large Port Commando heads?


And...what's your ball-park guesstimate

for a bare set of the LP Commandos?

Are you talking about something like this: http://www.jegs.com/i/Mopar Performance/312/P4876785/10002/-1?CT=999. Looks like those are $1,700 a pair for bare heads. Have you looked in to RHS Indy X heads?

thats a standard comando head, the largeport needs ofset intake rockers and play in a diferent leauge compared to the standard comando and the RHS heads
the largeport head is/was more like a W series head, and i think they have been replaced now by a diferent head wich is called the supercomando i think..
this all depends on how seious you want to go and what kind of money you may want to put into it

The large port Commandos are very close to a W5 head without the raised intake port. RHS, Edelbrocks and such are not going to come close to the potential of this head.

Back to the OP's original question, you should check the big MP dealers, Jegs, Summit and such. Or maybe you can talk a local dealer into giving you a deal on some parts if you are going to spend x amount of dollars with them.

You may also be able to find a used set on eBay or Racing Junk, used W5's pop up from time to time as well and that's actually a better head than the LP Commandos.
